Proofing
Proofing is an essential step in setting up your print for an edition. Our proofing service includes creating a master print called a BAT (bona a tirer) on the paper of your choice.
This master copy will include all relevant print information to ensure accuracy in the edition. Once the BAT has been inspected and approved by you and signed, then we can begin to print.
The BAT remains the property of Wornell Editions and is kept in secure storage away from light. It becomes the master from which prints in the edition are compared for quality and consistency.
Proofing costs
Prices are based on the form the original is delivered. Slides, negatives, and small originals up to A4 can be scanned inhouse for 80 euros + VAT (ALV) and includes up to three A4 proofs on Archive Matte paper. Full size proofs on the artists chosen paper are charged at regular rates for that media.
Slides, negatives and artwork that have already been scanned and written to CD / DVD must be seen before we can provide a quote for proofing.
In most cases we would prefer to have the originals while proofing, but in the case of highly valuable items such as museum paintings, we will do our best to match the colours without the original.
If we cannot provide scanning or image capture ourselves, then we will recommend a service where that can be done.
