I began photographing walls around 2001. In Finland the traditional building materials and methods still in use today create a wonderful uniformity in the landscape. The iron red or ochre natural coated rough sawn wood stands out in stark contrast against the green landscape.

There is a certain elegance to be found in these constructions. They take the extreme weather conditions with a robust durability and still they develop a wonderful character with age.
